The first Dharmendra Quiz

I have been a huge fan of Bollywood star Dharmendra for years now. So when I came across this blog from Memsaab, I thought why not have a blog of my own on my favorite star. So here goes the first post on the legend – a quiz for all you Bollywood lovers out there.

There are no prizes for getting correct answers. However I am sure you will participate in this quiz just to know how well do you know him if he happens to be your favourite star.

  1. Dharmendra is the only star from the 60s to have starred with the top three of the 50s – Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand. Name the movies in which he appeared alongside them.
  2. Sachin lip synced to a Lata Mangeshkar song in this Dharmendra-starrer. Name the movie.
  3. Dharmendra and Meena Kumari were one of the hit pairs in the 60s. Name their first movie together.

  8. In the early 70s, there were rumours that Dharmendra was romantically linked with one of his leading ladies. Name her.
(Hint – It was not Hema Malini)
  9. Before Dharmendra, another 60s star was chosen to star in ‘Phool Aur Paththar’ (1966), however due to date problems, he couldn’t work in the movie. Who was he?
  10. Which Dharmendra-movie did Hrishikesh Mukherjee edit (not direct) in the late 60s?
(Hint: The movie was produced by Deven Verma who co-starred with Dharmendra in several movies in 1966).

Thats lovely Shashi… Brilliant answers and I must admit, despite being a Great Fan of Dharamji, i was found wanting with some answers…Good work by Dharam Garam above…I would also love to be a part of this wonderfully crafted blog

Regarding his linkage with Saira banu, i Never heard of such.. But one thing was sure, Saira banu was a great admirer of Dharmendra as an actor and as a human being which was revealed in a stardust article of 1977…She once famously branded him as “Dashing young man with Italian Looks”..oouch.. Therefore, am not surprised…

I dont know if you have seen their 1975 film, Saazish.. What an amazing and Fascinating Chemistry they shared…To be sincere, it wasnt all about Hema Malini for Dharmendra as far as “On-screen” is concerned..

Oh! I did not see this quiz before, else I would certainly have tried, and got at least a few right answers. 😀

I am so glad you posted the answers, though. Not knowing the answer to a trivia question makes me very antsy.

And may I admit that I LOVE Garam Dharam, too. (Not as much as Guddi does, but still a lot!) Here’s to more Dharam-centric posts.

  3. Shashi says:

@Bollyviewer, better late than never. This is just the first of the quizzes that you will be seeing in the forthcoming days. I am sure you will get several answers right there.

    Cheers !!

  4. dustedoff says:

I am even later than Bollyviewer. 😦 Just saw this today, and oh, I wish I’d seen this when you first posted it! (Not, I hasten to clarify, that there was much chance of me being able to correctly answer any of those questions, but still…). Am looking forward to more quizzes – even if I don’t know the answers, at least it helps boost my knowledge of trivia!

  5. gbk says:

and Shashiji, the issue of Dharam bearing the name, Rajesh Khanna, was it just a coincidence?????? or is there anything to it regarding the Director of the movie….

    • dharamgaram says:

@gbk – Well, there is no co-incidence from what I can see. The movie released in 1968 when Rajesh Khanna was not a star yet. So I guess maybe the name was just ‘given’ 🙂

    Hello Shashi,
I chanced here coming from Memsaab, and just in case nobody else had told you, wanted to let you know that there’s another Dharam blog out there: http://ilovelovelovedharmendra.blogspot.com/
    bye!

    • dharamgaram says:

      Hello Yves,

Thanks very much for dropping by.

Yes, I am already aware of this blog. I created this blog only to post quizzes on Dharmendra. I don’t write wonderful movie reviews or articles like how you or Greta do. I know I won’t get even half the following that you folks do.

But I am too big a fan of his to not write something about him, hence this post.

      Bye and take care,
      Shashi
